Lots Of Hollywood Actors Change Their Names
Lots of actors change their names for the sake of their careers. Whether they have a “funny name” or simply want something a little more “Hollywood,” some young actors find it a necessity to change their name for the business.
Marilyn Monroe was born Norman Jean Mortenson. Woody Allen was born Allan Stewart Konisberg. Jamie Foxx was born Eric Marlon Bishop (and actually wanted his name to sound feminine so he could get on stage with comedy acts) and even John Wayne was born Marion Robert Morrison (not even close).
Andrew Lincoln’s real name is no different.
Andrew James Clutterbuck, Gunslinger
Andrew Lincoln’s real name is Andrew James Clutterbuck. The Walking Dead actor is British, so this could even be short for something like “Most Noble House of Clutterbuck” or something similar.
While it’s normal for an actor to change their name for Hollywood, the name Clutterbuck could almost carry the weight of a gunslinger like Rick Grimes. It’s unlikely that the British name would have helped with Love, Actually though.
The British actor grew up in Hull, Yorkshire.
The Walking Dead Changed Clutterbuck’s Career
IMDB lists Lincoln’s bio as:

“Various roles followed including that of teacher Simon Casey in the Channel 4 series Teachers (2001), and as Mark in the hit film Love Actually (2003). In 2010, he was cast in The Walking Dead (2010), a live action drama series based on the comic of the same name. Lincoln plays the lead character of Rick Grimes. Lincoln is married to Gael Anderson, his father-in-law is legendary musician Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull fame.”
