So it’s pretty obvious that Young Sheldon, the spinoff to The Big Bang Theory, is going to have some connections to the main series. But there’s one connection that is stronger than most.
Zoe Perry, the actress who plays Sheldon’s mom on Young Sheldon, is actually the daughter of three-time Emmy Award winner Laurie Metcalf. Metcalf plays Sheldon’s mother on The Big Bang Theory.
If you notice some quirks between the two sitcom actresses, it’s because they’re actually genetic.

“It’s surreal,” said the young actress. “When I first arrived at Young Sheldon and was meeting our crew, some people would say, ‘You’ve really got the character down.’ I said, ‘Yeah. It’s been a long study.”
Perry has worked with family before, alongside her father Jeff Perry on nine episodes of Scandal. “It’s incredible to be going from the Shondaland universe to Big Bang creator Chuck Lorre’s,” Perry told People.
The entire family is proud to be working on these popular shows.

Laurie Metcalf has said it’s been difficult watching her daughter grow up as an actress, based on the amount of rejection known within the business. Luckily, this new role was literally built for her.
The young woman was only four when her mother landed the role of Jackie on Roseanne. Metcalf liked the sitcom schedule where she worked from 9 to 3 and then spent time with family back in 1988.
Perry appeared as a young version of Jackie on a few episodes of Roseanne (which is ironic based on this new schedule), but her parents decided to keep her out of acting until she was an adult.
Metcalf is happy that she’s now working with her daughter as more of a peer than a family. In a joke, Perry responded that she doesn’t believe it will be too hard to play a version of her mother.
Perry joked, “Don’t we all become our parents?”
