Since I’ve started writing Big Bang Theory articles for Monday Monday Network, I’ve noticed a repeating trend in my research. Steve Molaro, head writer for the show, has hinted that it looks like season ten may be the final season. Kaley Cuoco herself stated that more seasons would be “expensive.” Many members of the cast have been lobbying for a higher paycheck. She further stated on the Jimmy Kimmel show that ten was probably enough. So, why then when she guest starred on the Talk did she say that they weren’t done yet?

Jimmy Kimmel

When Cuoco was on Jimmy Kimmel, after Kimmel asked if she thought 10 seasons was enough, Cuoco nodded and said yes with a laugh. “It’s a lot of hair. That’s a lot of denim sizes,” said Cuoco, who joined the show when she was 21 years old. “I went from like hot to like 30 [years old].”

CBS

It seems like the only ones on board for more Big Bang Theory are the people at CBS. And why shouldn’t they be? The Big Bang Theory is a huge cash cow for them. “We are very confident that everyone involved wants more Big Bang past year 10,” said CBS chief Glenn Geller at the Television Critics Association’s press tour in August. “We’ll put it on as long as everyone wants Big Bang on the air. I hope it lasts forever.”

Maybe CBS has been waving an extra bonus in Cuoco’s face. When she appeared on the Talk on Thursday September 15, her stance was drastically altered:

As the Season 10 premiere approaches, Kaley said she and the cast would love nothing more than to continue working together.

The Talk

“We’re so in love with each other, and we still have so much fun, that I can safely say we want to be here as long as possible—we’re nowhere near done,” she said.

Could the sudden change in attitude be a new paycheck? Who knows? Maybe she heard the ending rumors and isn’t ready to let go. Besides, even though stars make it big on a TV show, once it’s over it could be hard for some of them to find work elsewhere. Just look at the original Little Rascals. There’s a real sad story there. Seriously, if you don’t know about it, look it up.

This is good news for fans who want the show to continue though. Especially after the articles that starting popping up about the show continuing without the main cast. It was made clear from the online poll done by Digital Spy tgat fans would not want to see more of the show if the main cast wasn’t involved. 80% said that they would not watch. That could be another reason for the change of opinion.

CBS could have seen the poll and maybe came to an agreement with the cast. Whatever the case, ultimately, this is good news for fans. Don’t forget that the season ten premiere will be on this Monday night coming up on CBS. It has really been hyped up to be something special.
