“I hate when someone assumes people are dating just because they look like they would make beautiful babies together,” said Raj Koothrappali. In the latest episode of The Big Bang Theory, Raj may have to choose between love and science.

“Honestly, I don’t have a lot of experience with casual relationships. I have some experience with serious relationships and a ton of experience with no relationships,” he said, not joking.

Luckily, he didn’t screw up the date, but he might hurt the potential relationship.

Raj Koothrappali doesn’t hold back when it comes to love. Instead, he dives all in, often too quickly for his female counterpart. This has led to some of his dates going to the bathroom and never coming back. One even climbed out a window to end the date.

Now, it would appear that he has found the perfect girl, but they share very different beliefs on love. Raj, a hopeless romantic who likes to curl up with a Meryl Streep movie wants to live out a Nicholas Sparks novel in real life.

His new date, Ruchi, doesn’t quite feel the same way about love and marriage.

Discussing Science Versus Soul Mates

“Come on. You don’t believe that everyone has one perfect match?” asked Raj over dinner. Ruchi’s defense is that if you had a soul mate who lived on the other side of the world, you would end up alone or with the wrong person.

“I can give you like twenty examples where that happened to Kate Hudson,” said Raj, using his knowledge of Lifetime-level cinema. “Are you saying that you don’t believe that two people fall in love?” asked the hopeless romantic.

“Of course they do. But what people call love is just a series of biochemical reactions in the brain that fade over time,” she said. This, of course, upsets Raj and he makes a joke about her views versus all love songs and all love films ever made.

Then, she reminds him that they’re both scientists and just because they can label the feelings doesn’t mean they aren’t real. Back at Howard’s, Raj eventually realizes the relationship works, either way, so he’ll give it a shot.

Do you think this relationship will fall apart in the end for Raj Koothrappali?
