There have been rumors for nearly a year, and casting choices have been written all over the internet. Now, finally, Jim Parsons gives us a little inside scoop on the highly anticipated Sheldon spin-off series.

Andy Cohen interviewed Jim Parson recently about the new Sheldon spin-off series, set to premiere at some point on CBS during the 2017-2018 season.

Jim said, “It’s like an origin story,” and even admitted that the show was his own idea. Apparently he had initially created a show about his own family, but then realized that the story could have easily been Sheldon’s.

He said, “I was trying to come up with an idea for a show, and we had this idea bout my little nephew who’s really smart down in Texas. And my family’s pretty average, no offense to them, but they’re very normal and he’s very smart. Then one thing led to another, and I said well this could be Sheldon, and so i took it to [Chuck Lorre] who does Big Bang, and he was like ‘yes let’s do this.’”

Jim also let it slip that the show will be coming out in the Fall, so now Big Bang Theory fans at least know when to expect this “adorable” show.

It has also been reported that Jim will not only be working behind the scenes producing the show. He will also be narrating the single camera series, as the older Sheldon Cooper looking back.

Playing his younger self will be Iain Armitage, a young child actor who rose to fame through his online theater critiques. The pair were recently seen at a Broadway show together. Older Sheldon and Younger Sheldon saw Come From Away and seemed to have a great time.

Zoe Perry, daughter of Laurie Metcalf (the original Mary Cooper) will play Sheldon’s mother in the series.

We can’t wait to see the Sheldon spin-off series when it airs in the Fall of 2017.
