In case you were wondering who the men of Duck Dynasty are voting for, they have made their choices known. Which is not surprising. It’s not like Phil, Si, or Willie Robertson are shy when it comes to their views.
In a recent interview with Fox News, Si Robertson was asked his view on the upcoming election. When asked who he was going to vote for, he spoke candidly about his faith and politics.
“They asked me who I was going to vote for, and I said I’m gonna vote for God as President. First of He cannot lie, second He’s going to do what’s right because he loves the United States of America because He’s been with us since the founding of it and then plus that’s the truth of the matter. That’s the standard you should use.”
While that might seem like an off-the wall comment to some, you could interpret it a little less literally, since God is not actually on the ballot. Perhaps he was talking about putting the country he loves in the hands of God. He’s not counting on a ballot but in the God that has seen America through since its founding.
However, if you listen to what he says about veterans, you get a pretty clear picture of where that vote will actually be cast.
“We send them over there and we ought to look after them when they come back.”
Si went on to explain after eight tours in Iraq, that his son came back with post-traumatic stress.
“I hadn’t thought about it ‘till he had one of those episodes one day. His wife called me, and I went over to help her because he was out of it. And afterward we got to talking and he said, “Dad you’ve got to understand. I’ve got three years of that in my mind.”
“And I didn’t even think about it that way. We have some of our soldiers who’ve done seven or eight tours either in Iraq or Afghanistan, OK? So they’re dealing with a lot of trauma. We need to do a better job when they come back. Take care of ’em better.”
Donald Trump has pledged to take care of our veterans’ healthcare.
As for Willie Robertson? Well, according to Willie, he and the Donald have quite a bit in common.
Willie has been on the Trump train before his dad, Phil, jumped abroad. In September, Willie Robertson joined Trump on the campaign trail in Oklahoma City to throw his support behind the Republican nominee.
“I do like me some Trump, I gotta admit,” Willie said at the time. “Here’s the deal. We’re both successful businessmen, we both have pretty big shows on television, and we both have wives that are 1,000 times better looking than us. So I like Trump.”
Whether its politics or faith, you have to admit, neither Si nor Willie Robertson have any problem letting you know just where they stand.
